What are you planning?

How asset finance works

Asset finance can spread the cost of obtaining equipment rather than requiring the full purchase price upfront. Common structures include hire purchase and leasing. With hire purchase, ownership can transfer after the agreement’s conditions and final payments are met. Leasing gives you use of an asset for an agreed period; ownership and end-of-term options depend on the contract.

Match the agreement to the asset

Tell us what you need, the supplier, the price and how long you expect to use it. We will discuss whether owning the asset matters to you, how the investment supports the business and the cash available for upfront costs. This helps frame a conversation about the funding structure rather than just the monthly payment.

What to weigh up

Compare deposits, total payments, fees, ownership terms and any final payment or purchase option. Check maintenance responsibilities, early termination costs and what happens at the end of the agreement. Missing payments may put the financed asset at risk. Ask your accountant how the proposed structure affects your business’s tax and accounting position.

Your questions

Asset Finance: FAQs

Can used equipment be financed?

It may be possible, depending on the lender, the type and age of the asset and the supplier. Send us the details or a quotation so we can discuss the options.

Do I own the asset from the start?

Ownership depends on the agreement. Hire purchase and leasing work differently, so make sure the ownership and end-of-term terms are clear before committing.

What if I have not chosen a supplier yet?

We can start with the type of asset, your budget and the business need. A detailed quotation may be required before a lender can finalise an offer.
