Working capital
Consider how a facility could sit alongside your existing funding arrangements.
How invoice finance works
Invoice finance makes funding available against eligible unpaid business invoices. A provider advances part of the invoice value; the remaining balance is released after the customer pays, less the agreed charges. The proportion available, invoices accepted and facility terms vary by provider.
Factoring or invoice discounting?
With factoring, the provider generally manages collections. With invoice discounting, the business generally retains that role. Confidentiality, customer contact and credit control responsibilities depend on the agreement. We start by understanding how you invoice, who your customers are and how you want the relationship with those customers to work.
What to weigh up
Review service and funding charges, minimum fees, contract length and notice periods. Check which invoices are eligible, how disputes or late payments affect availability and who bears the risk if a customer does not pay. Funding can change as the invoice book changes. Tell us about any existing security or finance over the same debts.
Your questions
Invoice Finance: FAQs
Is invoice finance the same as a business loan?
It is usually a facility linked to eligible invoices rather than a fixed loan repaid over a set term. Availability depends on the invoice book and the provider’s terms.
Will customers know I use invoice finance?
That depends on the facility and collection arrangements. Some arrangements are confidential; others involve the provider contacting customers. Discuss this before choosing a structure.
Will every invoice qualify?
Not necessarily. Providers assess the business, its customers and the invoices offered. Overdue, disputed or otherwise ineligible invoices may be excluded from funding.
